About Polimania

Polimania is a personal blog.

I’m committed to Democratic politics. It wasn’t always so.

I dedicated myself to changing the political landscape in 2001, as I watched an election stolen right in front of the entire world.

I saw the same thing happen again four years later and it only strengthened my resolve to do everything I could to make sure that it never happens again.

Over the next few years, I’ve officially joined the Democratic Party, become a committee member, precinct captain and activist. I’ve worked for candidates, knocking on doors, passing out literature, organizing house parties and raising money. In that time, I’ve met dozens like myself who came late to the role of activist and who continue to feel our way through the process.

This blog is another step in that progression. Since I began my professional career as a journalist and worked most of my life writing, it was a natural step. I’m not sure where it’s going but I think the trip will be fun.

Thomas Jefferson:

I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them but to inform their discretion.
